How the Class Is Built
Two Halves. You Only Have to Show Up For One.
Most CCW classes put you in a room for a full day. This one splits the work so the only time you have to be somewhere is the part that genuinely requires it.
The Classroom, At Home
Online · Your own schedule · Start tonightEverything you need to know before you ever load a firearm, on your phone or your laptop. Stop, restart, and go back over anything as many times as you like.
Live Fire, In Person
Scheduled sessions · Near you · With MichaelFlorida requires you to demonstrate competency with live fire. You book a session close to home, shoot it with Michael watching, and leave with your certificate in hand.
The Curriculum
What You'll Actually Learn
No filler, no war stories, no upselling. The material a Florida carrier needs and the range time to prove you can handle it.
Part One · Online
Florida Law
- Where you can carry and where you cannot
- Use of force — what the law actually says, and what it doesn't
- Reciprocity: which states honor your license, and what changes at the state line
- Carrying in a vehicle, and carrying while travelling
- Your responsibilities the moment you put it on
Safety & Handling
- The safety rules, and why each one exists
- Loading, unloading, and clearing safely
- Storage at home — especially with children in the house
- Choosing a firearm that fits your hand and your life
Mindset & Awareness
- Situational awareness that isn't paranoia
- Avoiding the situation is the goal — how to think about that honestly
- What actually happens to your body under stress
- The decisions you want to have made before you ever need them
Part Two · In Person
Live Fire & Certification
- Grip, stance, sight picture, trigger control
- Live fire with Michael watching and correcting
- Your certificate of competency, issued on completion
- A walkthrough of the state application, start to finish
Price
One Hundred Dollars. Both Halves. No Surprises.
You pay once. The online classroom opens immediately and your live-fire session is booked when you're ready for it — there's no second invoice waiting at the range.
What the $100 does not cover
The state's own application fee and your fingerprinting are paid separately, directly to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Nobody can include those in a class price. The course walks you through exactly what they cost and how to pay them, so there are no surprises at that stage either.
- Full online classroom, available immediately
- Unlimited revisiting of the material
- In-person live-fire session with Michael
- Certificate of competency on completion
- Step-by-step state application walkthrough
- Your questions answered by the man who taught you
Seats per session are limited by range capacity.

Three Steps
Reserve Your Seat
Pay once and the classroom opens straight away. You are not waiting for a date on somebody's calendar to start learning.
Work Through It At Home
A few hours in total, and you can split it across as many sittings as you like. Most people do it over a couple of evenings.
Shoot Your Certification
Choose the session nearest you, meet Michael, complete your live fire, and leave with the certificate.
Before You Book
Is This Class For You?
Yes, if you're
- Getting your first Florida license
- Someone who has never touched a firearm — most students haven't
- A couple doing it together
- Carrying already and wanting the license for reciprocity
- Short on time and unwilling to give up a whole Saturday to a classroom
To hold a Florida license you must
- Be 18 or older
- Be a US citizen or lawful permanent resident
- Demonstrate competency with live fire — that's what Part Two is
- Pass the state's background check and fingerprinting
- Not be disqualified under Florida law
Eligibility is decided by the state, not by us, and the rules do change. Michael will tell you plainly if he thinks something in your situation needs checking before you spend money — and the current requirements are always published by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
The Question Everybody Asks First
"Florida Doesn't Require a Permit. Why Get One?"
Fair question, and it deserves a straight answer rather than a sales pitch.
Since 2023, a qualifying adult in Florida can carry concealed without a license. That's true, and it changed nothing about why people still get one.
It travels. Dozens of other states honor a Florida license. Without one, your carry rights end at the state line — and Florida is a state people drive out of.
It lasts seven years. One process, one fee, seven years before you think about it again.
It removes friction. Purchases and travel are simpler with a license in your wallet.
And the honest one: carrying legally and carrying competently are two entirely different things. The law stopped requiring the training. It did not stop mattering. That's the actual reason to take this class.

Questions
Everything People Ask Before Booking
Do I need to own a firearm to take the class?
No. Plenty of students take the class before they buy anything, and that is genuinely the smarter order — you'll know far more about what suits you after the class than before it. Michael will make sure you have something appropriate for your live-fire session.
How long does the whole thing take?
The online classroom runs a few hours and you can split it across as many sittings as you like. The live-fire certification is one scheduled in-person session. Most people go from booking to certificate inside a couple of weeks, and how fast depends entirely on you.
I have never fired a gun in my life. Is this class for me?
Yes, and you'll be in the majority. The class assumes no experience at all and starts with how to hold a firearm safely. Michael's students say the same thing over and over — he is patient and he does not make anyone feel foolish for asking a beginner's question.
Where does the live-fire session happen?
Sessions run in Manatee, Sarasota and Charlotte counties. You choose the area nearest you when you book, and you'll get the exact location and time in your confirmation.
What does the license itself cost, on top of the class?
The $100 covers your training and certification. Florida's own application fee and your fingerprinting are paid separately, directly to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, which is the agency that issues the licence. The class shows you exactly what those cost and how to pay them.
How long is a Florida concealed weapon license valid?
Seven years from the date it's issued, then you renew.
Do I still need a license if Florida allows permitless carry?
Legally, no. Practically, most people still want one. A Florida license is honored by dozens of other states, so your carry rights don't stop at the state line, and it makes purchases and travel simpler. And the training is the point regardless of what the law requires.
Can my spouse and I take it together?
Yes, and a lot of couples do. You can work through the online portion at your own pace separately or side by side, and you can book the same live-fire session.
What if I fail the live-fire portion?
It isn't a test you pass or fail on a first attempt basis. It's a demonstration of competency, and Michael's job is to get you there before it counts. If you need more time, you get more time.
Do you sell firearms or ammunition?
No. Stop The Threat is a training organization. Nothing is sold here but instruction.
